Case study
Building a team culture from the inside
Starting a small culture group in a remote organization, and helping colleagues lead team events of their own.
Context
A remote, diverse, and international organization.
Challenge
Remote work made it easy to stay polite and distant. People knew each other’s work, but not each other.
Approach
- Founded a small culture group, dedicated to bringing people together.
- Organized 11 virtual team-building events.
- Mentored 8 colleagues so they could host events of their own, so it never depended on me.
Outcome
Our employee engagement score (eNPS) rose by 12 points from one quarter to the next.
What I learned
Culture grows fastest when you give it away. The moment other people started hosting, it stopped being my project and became ours.
